Corinna Menn (Zürich)

The architectural practice of Corinna Menn deals with a diverse range of architectural tasks in terms of location, use and size. The core competencies are design, project planning and implementation planning. Both public and private commissions are largely based on competitions. This path reflects the fundamental understanding of design as constantly new research and specific interpretation of the framework.

Growing up and rooted in Graubünden, the studies at the ETH Zurich (1994-2000), the internship in Berlin (1996-97) and the exchange semester at the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University in Cambridge, MA (1999) form this framework of the architect. In 2002 she founded her architectural practice in Zurich. The firm moved to Chur in 2006 with the construction of the homes for the disabled in Scharans and the Conn viewing platform in Flims. Today, both locations form its identity and field of activity.

The firm's projects deal with multi-layered contexts, from alpine landscape and settlement areas to urban centers and the transformation of existing structures. The challenging context, worthy of landscape or cultural protection, characterizes various realized buildings as well as urban development studies (Wohnen am See Schmerikon 2013, Swissprintersareal Zofingen 2015, Marienburg Thal 2018). This broad discussion requires and is stimulated by interdisciplinary work. A long-term commitment has been in the work of the jury for architectural competitions and in building consulting on issues of settlement development and the preservation of historic city centers.
