VIPP Cuisine (Genève)

It all began as a love story.

**Sometimes winning the lottery can inspire more than just temporary enthusiasm. When Holger Nielsen, founder of Vipp, won a car by entering the local soccer stadium in 1932, it was the beginning of the Vipp company. He just didn't know it yet. He sold the car, bought a metal press, and a few years later, when his wife Marie needed a dustbin for her hairdressing salon, he went to his private workshop and created the now famous Vipp pedal dustbin.

Holger could never have imagined that the pedal garbage can he designed in 1939 would one day give rise to a design world of accessories, furniture and kitchens in its own right. Nor that his dustbin would be the catalyst for a hotel design concept.

**Vipp remains an independent Danish family business, run by Holger's daughter Jette Egelund, her two children Kasper and Sofie, and 55 employees in Copenhagen, Denmark.

**Whether we're designing a trash can, rethinking the modular kitchen, creating a furniture line or running the Vipp Hotel, we always measure the quality of products and concepts by their ability to deliver an outstanding experience over the long term.
