The architectural firm, formerly Schalch + Aeschbacher AG, was founded in Sulgen in 1970 by Karl Schalch and Werner Aeschbacher. In 35 years, the two founders built up a successful planning office with two subsidiaries and around 30 employees. Due to the broad spectrum of different building types, they were able to realize numerous buildings in Eastern Switzerland and in the Zurich area. These included residential, industrial, commercial and agricultural buildings. Also public school and administration buildings.

In 2005 the course was set for a new future and the original architectural office was handed over to the next generation. For 15 years now, Yvette Schalch Pivetta and Thomas Kaczmarek have successfully continued the architectural practice as Schalch + Kaczmarek GmbH. The broad spectrum of building types has been maintained and, above all, expanded to include listed buildings, housing for the elderly and intergenerational housing projects.

In 2020, the architectural office can look back on a total of 50 years. The direct exchange with the craft culture in the region is still an important part of the office's design and execution activities. The focus is always on the client as well as on the property to be built on and its context. Designing also means getting involved again and again in the process of desires, the feasible and the responsibility towards the environment.

In addition to their office work, the two owners are also involved at the political level, such as in authorities, commissions and associations. Since her studies, Yvette Schalch has been continuously educating herself on the subject of living in old age, giving lectures and publishing on this subject.
