Rothen Architekten GmbH (Winterthur)

The architectural office was founded in 1989 by Beat Rothen in Winterthur. Since then, numerous projects have been realized, especially in residential and housing development.

The works reflect the consistent examination of the specific task, the individual client and the respective location. With special skill we try to combine the wishes of our clients with our own architectural ideas. The challenge we always face with enthusiasm is to create the special out of the simple. The buildings gain a specific expressiveness through the use of simple but characteristic and distinctive materials. The result is cost-effective buildings that bring together aesthetics and functionality, pragmatism and spatial art.

The Zelgli housing estate received the award for good buildings in the canton of Zurich in 2001. The Im Lenz single-family house in Hinwil was awarded the Zürcher Oberland building prize in 2007.

In 2001, Beat Rothen was admitted to the Bund Schweizer Architekten.

Since 2007 he has been a lecturer in design and construction at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur, ZHAW.

In addition to the monograph Beat Rothen Wohnbau from 2005, a book on the work of Beat Rothen was published at the end of 2011 in the series De aedibus by Quart Verlag.
