The fact that this is a "neutral" study allows us to take charge of the design and construction management for the renovation of the "Siberia" ice arena for the city of Ascona in early 1998. The drafting process was exposed to long bureaucratic vicissitudes (appeal to the CDS). Finally, the execution of the ice formation on October 9, 1999 found its happy conclusion. The plant is characterized by a high level of innovation. The ban on ammonia as a carrier for refrigerated transport opened the door to this new concept. The world's first plant with C02 medium refrigerant is in operation in Ticino. Environmental impact and energy savings, the main features of this work, have been monitored by the air-water department and reported to EMPA Dübendorf. It was recognized by the Federal Office of Energy in Bern as a pilot system with a corresponding grant and contract for monitoring data and promoting the results until 2002.
