The project competition was carried out in cooperation with HTS Architekten AG, Cham.

The new building of the Höhere Fachschule Gesundheit at the Kantonsspital Luzern presents the required identity and independence. The existing buildings constrict the construction area. The uses of the new building opposite the street space are reserved for rooms with a public character.

The distinctive shape of the building results from the idea of open space in relation to the existing buildings. The first floor volume of the building traces the existing orthogonal building pattern and the upper floors set it apart from the neighboring high-rise building.

The staggering of the building accommodates all the classrooms, which face away from the noisy Spitalstrasse. Thanks to the stepping, these benefit with their own assigned green zone in the outdoor space.
