Martin Erny completed his architectural studies at the ETH Zurich, graduating in 1976 under Prof. Dolf Schneebli. He then worked for Andrea Roost, an architect in Bern, and Werner Blaser, an architect in Basel. From 1979 to 1981, Martin Erny rebuilt the Tenth in Reigoldswil as a freelancer and was awarded the Good Buildings BL Award in 1985. He then worked for six years for Wilfrid and Katharina Steib Architects in Basel, before moving in 1986 to Urs Gramelsbacher and Karl Schneider founded an office in Basel. From 1999, the office became erny & schneider AG with the two owners Martin Erny and Karl Schneider. Since 2017, he has managed the business together with Veronika Selig, which will operate under the name SELIG ERNY Architects from August 2020. Martin Erny has made high-quality and innovative contributions to regional architecture in the course of his work and has received numerous awards for projects including the Davidsboden Basel and the renovation of the Schönthal Abbey. Martin Erny is a member of the Association of Swiss Architects BSA.
