The architectural firm, formerly Schalch + Aeschbacher AG, was founded in Sulgen in 1970 by Karl Schalch and Werner Aeschbacher. In 35 years, the two founders built up a successful planning office with two subsidiaries and around 30 employees. Due to the large number of different types of construction, numerous buildings were realized in Eastern Switzerland and the Zurich region. This included residential, industrial, commercial and agricultural buildings. Also public school and administration buildings.

In 2005, the course was set for a new future and the original architectural practice was passed on to the next generation. Yvette Schalch Pivetta and Thomas Kaczmarek have successfully continued the architectural practice for 15 years as Schalch + Kaczmarek GmbH. The broad spectrum of building categories has been retained and expanded to include listed buildings, apartments for the elderly and intergenerational residential projects.

In 2020, the architecture firm can look back on a total of 50 years. The direct exchange with the craft culture in the region is still an important part of the design and execution work. The focus is always on the client as well as on dealing with the property to be built and its context. Designing also means constantly engaging in the process of what is desired, what is feasible, and what is responsible for the environment.

In addition to their office work, the two owners are also involved at the political level, for example in authorities, commissions and associations. Since her studies, Yvette Schalch has been continuously educating herself on the topic of living in old age, giving lectures and publishing on the subject.
