Châtelain Gérard (Onex)

Gérard Châtelain, Architecte SIA et urbaniste FUS (Architecture et construction, 2015), lives in Onex, where he has his own architectural practice, and is an honorary member of the Geneva Association of Architects (AGA), according to a list drawn up in 2012 (AGA, 2015). Since the early 1970s, he has worked with other architects on a number of housing complexes in Geneva and the canton of Vaud ("Quartier La Levratte, Nyon VD", 1976). He also worked in the field of sacred architecture, collaborating with architect Roger Breitenbücher on the Montbrillant temple in Geneva between 1958 and 1959. The architecture of this pagoda-shaped temple makes ample use of windows and light. To avoid glare, the architects took a truly artistic approach, treating the concrete clerestory walls with inserts of white glass and glass in various colors.
