Since the founding of our office in 2006, we have pursued an architecture that seeks a close dialogue with the environment and the history of each site. This can be a rural and strongly traditional site in the Bernese Oberland, an urban center in Lausanne or a disused railroad area in Hamburg. The solutions for our buildings are therefore not found in theoretical treatises, but in a concrete engagement with what is found. Many of our projects deal with public buildings in the educational and social sectors. In dialogue with our clients, we bring in experiences from the various contexts and try to develop them typologically. In addition to familiar themes, we are always breaking new ground. Our winning design for the Pierre de Coubertin stadium in Lausanne is as much the result of this curiosity as our residential project for a family in Sumiswald, where a spatially diverse solitaire was created on an almost undeveloped plot. Mood and atmosphere are created individually. In addition to the personal images of the architects and the found context, the dialogue with our clients is crucial for the success of the projects. The interplay of individual experiences creates unique buildings and spaces that suit their purpose and can be described as suitable for everyday use in the best sense of the word. Despite two locations in Switzerland and Germany, we always pay attention to a directly personal and accessible way of working.
