150 years of architecture Founded by Joseph de Kalbermatten ( 1840 - 1920 ) / 1865 From the first class of architects at the ETH Zürich. A pupil of Gottfried Semper, he designed buildings such as : The Arsenal de Sion, the Collège de Sion which became the Palais de Justice, the Bâtiment de l'Edilité which was built as a hotel, as well as numerous neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque churches.

The office was taken over by his son Alphonse ( 1870 - 1960 ). Also a graduate of EPF Zürich Worked with Joseph in the continuity of historicist eclecticism / 1894 He was responsible for numerous reconstructions and restorations. ( including Valère castle and church, with Théophile Van Muyden / 1897 ) Opened up to modern architecture / 1930 Co-founder and first president of the Valais section of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects ( SIA / 1929 - 1931 )

Transition of the office to his son Henri ( 1913 - 1989 ) Also a graduate of EPF Zürich During the Second World War, his brother Etienne, a graduate of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, completes the trio. Alphonse, Henri and Etienne are responsible for the extension of Sion Cathedral. Henri opens his own office. He is the author of numerous projects for private and institutional clients in Valais and elsewhere in Switzerland, including the Lycée Collège de Sion.

The architects Joseph, Alphonse and Henri left extensive archives, which can be consulted on request from the current custodian, Mr. Philippe de Kalbermatten.
