Weiss + Kaltenrieder AG (Bern)

1922/23 Hans Weiss senior (1894-1973) takes over / establishes his architectural practice. He wins numerous competitions and realizes many pioneering buildings in the style of classical modernism. Among the better known are the Meerhaus, the old fire station and the Capitol cinema. The old town remains an important concern of his life.

In 1962, Hans Weiss Jr. (1928-2013) became the office. Under his leadership, many large industrial and commercial buildings are built in and around Bern. One highlight is the construction of the striking high-rise building next to the Stade de Suisse.

In 1982 Paul Kaltenrieder (* 1939), construction manager and architect since 1965, took over the company. The Hollandia Hut SAC and the Bachmätteli development in the center of Bümpliz are two of his main works.

In 1997, the transformation into a joint stock company opened the way for the sons Hans (* 1966) and Peter (* 1970) Kaltenrieder to join. They took over the management in 2003.
