In Valais, the new laws on regional planning and the Lex Weber have profoundly altered the construction market. The current framework calls for a paradigm shift and, consequently, a reappropriation of the built heritage. But this change also reflects a widespread awareness of the need for a more sustainable approach to housing.

However, many mountain properties are no longer fit for habitation. Heirs to the Valaisan heritage, they can be an enigma to the uninitiated. Convinced that their assets represent a certain financial and cultural value, owners often don't know how to breathe new life into them.

Indeed, some older properties are outside the construction zone. Others require maintenance, upgrading, renovations or sanitary or electrical connections. Added to these complex issues are regulations concerning certain protected buildings such as mayens, mazots, chalets or village houses.

Espace Concept Création's response to these issues is to propose sustainable solutions that make the interior habitable while enhancing the exterior, in order to safeguard Valais's cultural heritage. The aim is to enhance the setting without altering the volume or affecting the aesthetics.
